Shakespears Desserts is the business you are ordering from.

The online ordering service behind this website is provided to Shakespears Desserts by SwitcherMate Ltd, a UK company. Shakespears Desserts is responsible for the information it uses to prepare, hand over or deliver your order and to deal with you as its customer. SwitcherMate Ltd is responsible for the information it handles to run the ordering service: taking your order, processing payment securely, sending order updates and preventing misuse.

You order as a guest. There is no account to create and no password, and nothing on this website asks you for one.

To fulfil an order we collect the details you type at checkout: your name, phone number, optional email and, for delivery, your address. Shakespears Desserts uses them to prepare and deliver your food and to contact you about your order. They are kept only as long as needed for order handling and legal record-keeping.

Where you pay by card or wallet on this website, the payment is processed by Stripe. Your full card details go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by Shakespears Desserts or by SwitcherMate Ltd; only a payment confirmation and reference come back. If you pay in cash, no payment details are collected.

If you allow notifications, a push token is stored for your current order only, so you can be told when it is ready or on its way. Tokens expire automatically within 24 hours and can be revoked at any time in your device or browser notification settings.

Where Shakespears Desserts runs a loyalty card, your stamps are kept against the phone number you give at the counter or at checkout, and nothing more. Ask Shakespears Desserts to remove your number to erase the card.

This website carries no third-party advertising and no cross-site tracking. The information above is used only to run the ordering service. We count how many people view the menu, start a basket and fill in their details, using a code made from your connection details that is discarded at the end of each day. This sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and is never linked to an order.

If you have ordered from Shakespears Desserts online, Shakespears Desserts may occasionally text you about its offers. UK electronic marketing rules allow a business to do this for its own customers, provided you were told when you gave your number and can say no at any time; the notice at checkout tells you before you place your order. If you gave Shakespears Desserts your number in person and agreed to hear about offers, it may add you itself and records who confirmed that and when.

Every offer text is sent in Shakespears Desserts’s name, carries a link to opt out, and goes out only between 9am and 8pm UK time. On phones that support RCS it may show Shakespears Desserts’s name and logo; on other phones it arrives as an ordinary SMS. To stop offer texts, tap the link in any text or reply STOP: you get one text confirming it, and the stop applies to every shop that texts through this ordering service. Only you can opt back in, by replying START.

What is kept: the list of who can be texted is worked out from recent orders each time a text is sent, not stored as a separate list. When you opt out, a coded (hashed) version of your number is kept on the opt-out list with the date and the shop you were replying to, so you are never texted again. For each text sent, a record of the coded number, whether it was delivered and the network’s message reference is kept. Texts are sent through Twilio, the messaging network used by SwitcherMate Ltd.

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your personal information, ask for it to be corrected or erased, and object to how it is used. Use the contact details below, and include the approximate time of your order so the record can be found. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
